GENETIC DIVERSITY OF MAIZE INBRED LINES BASED ON MORPHOLOGICAL TRAITS AND ITS ASSOCIATION WITH HETEROSIS

چکیده
In any breeding program, the creation of high-yielding maize hybrids with best possible heterosis expression depends on genetic diversity parental inbred lines. This study aimed to quantify eight lines using morphological features and determine relationship between in grain yield per hectare distance matrices variables. The principal component analysis (PCA) determined among based 22 assessed their diallel crossings a two-year field experiment utilizing randomized complete block design three replications. dissimilarity Euclidean coefficients ranged from 0.08 (between L21 L28) 0.69 IL80), an average 0.38. results revealed that values traits showed low, positive, non-significant mid-parent heterosis, better-parent mean ha-1. To fully comprehend lines, extensive vast collection various populations variety is necessary.

متن کاملGenetic Distance Based on SSR Markers and Testcross Performance of Maize Inbred Lines
The identification of parental inbred lines to develop superior hybrids is a rather costly and time-consuming step in maize breeding. In some cases, pedigree information has been used to select diverse parental lines. In the case of Iranian maize inbred lines, this information is not fully available. In this study we investigated the genetic distance (GD) based on Simple sequence Repeats (SSR) ...

Comparing different methods of estimating the genetic diversity could define their usefulness in plant breeding programs. In this study, a total of 18 morphological traits and 20 simple sequence repeat (SSR) loci were used to study the morphological and genetic diversity among 20 maize hybrids selected from different countries, and to classify the hybrids into groups based on molecular profiles...
